About
I am a creative and talented designer, with over four years’ professional experience in managing print projects from initial concept to final production, ranging from advertising campaigns to books. I have excellent people skills, and am highly experienced in commissioning and managing freelancers. I am fully proficient with all relevant software (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat). I am also a recent philosophy graduate from the University of London.
Since 2010 I have run my own business, providing communications consultancy and design and editorial services to a range of clients. Current and recent projects include: rebranding an IT consultancy, developing a communications strategy for an online retailer, producing a catalogue for a mail order company and producing a quarterly membership magazine for a religious charity. See recent work for examples and more information.
For three years from 2007 to 2010 I managed publications at the national office of Quakers in Britain. This role included leading the design team, setting and constantly raising creative standards and ensuring all materials fulfilled our brand guidelines. I also managed staff and freelancers, prepared and monitored budgets and schedules and lead publications policy across the organisation. I was responsible for all print projects, from large format posters to extended reports and books.
I first started editing Quaker News in July 2005, and I led this key publication through a major makeover. I edited Quaker News right through my time at Quakers, and have just recently taken it up again on a freelance basis. My work included reviewing the magazine’s design, aims, style and content. I also pushed through a greatly-improved editorial system.
Alongside my work in design and communications, I have a keen interest in photography – see my daily photo project here. I am also a fan of the great outdoors, and recently enjoyed a three-month tandem ride from London to Istanbul with my wife Rachel.
